We asked the Doctor Annalisa Pizzetti, specialist in dermatology, the difference between these cosmetic products.
Le spray lotions are comfortable and certainly practical, refreshing and quick to apply. But usually they have low protection and should be used when you are already tanned. You have to repeat the application often, because they evaporate before the creams and especially after each bath.
The oils guarantee excellent spreadability but, the same problem, they do not give high protection. They are preferable on the body and not on the face also because they are very fat and occlusive.
Le sun creams instead they form a homogeneous film and keep the sun protection factor constant. They can be formulated as thicker pastes, suitable for children, or in the form of lotions or light emulsions for oily skin.
Sun creams: tips to protect yourself well
- The ideal kit to protect you? Sunscreen, umbrella, hat, sunglasses, loose clothing (sarong or kaftan)
- Beware of deodorants and perfumes. Avoid using them before exposing yourself to the sun, they can cause sun allergies, spots and sunburn.
- Apply sunscreen several times throughout the day. Between 12pm and 16pm, avoid sun exposure despite protection. These are the hours when the concentration of UV rays is highest!

- Take care of your eyes. They also suffer from sun exposure, so always protect them with quality sunglasses.
- Do not use previous year's creams. I sunscreens, after 12 months, they lose their effectiveness. So, before leaving for the holidays, take a trip to the perfumery or pharmacy, and give yourself a new sunscreen kit!

Watch out for clothing: they don't always protect you from the sun
If you are subject with a particularly low phototype or if, for work reasons, you are forced to prolonged sun exposure, the application of creams with a very high protection factor may not be enough. In fact, it would be appropriate to use garments made with anti-UV fabrics.
These garments (still difficult to find in Spain) have a yellow sun with shading, the standard number (EN13758-2) and the protective factor on the label. The protection factor informs about the amount of radiation that is absorbed by the garment, for example a factor of 20 indicates that the fabric allows only one twentieth of the UV rays to pass.
How to take care of the skin after the sun
After a day or a period in the sun, the skin has in any case suffered significant damage that normally manifests itself with a more or less intense redness, but in any case almost always present, or with a thickening of the skin (slower but also always present) which makes it seemingly and realistically less soft.
Rehydrate it, following food standards that increase the intake of water, of fruit and vegetables, is the first step for the “restitutio ad integrum” of the skin.
